Menteri Kominfo Mohammad Nuh Buka Asia Pacific Telecommunity Wireless Forum

DirJenPosTel, 31 Juli 2007 - Hari ini, 31 Juli 2007 jam 09.00 WIB, Menteri Kominfo Mohammad Nuh akan membuka secara resmi acara the 4th Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Wireless Forum. Acara AWF Forum secara keseluruhan akan berlangsung pada tanggal 31 Juli s/d. 3 Agustus 2007 di Jakarta dan diperkirakan akan dihadiri lebih dari 100 peserta asing. Saat ini pihak APT (Asia Pacific Telecommunity) telah menerima konfirmasi kehadiran sebanyak 73 peserta asing dari seluruh negara anggota APT , yang terdiri dari Member States, Associate Member, Affiliate Member dan International Organizational. Selain peserta asing, Ditjen Postel akan mengundang instansi, penyelenggara telekomunikasi dan stakeholder dalam negeri terkait untuk berpartisipasi dalam sidang dimaksud. Maksud dan tujuan sidang AWF-4 ini adalah membahas perkembangan teknologi sistem IMT-2000 dengan berbagai dampak yang timbul dari sistem IMT-2000 dan sistem wireless pada era konvergensi digital yang kini berkembang pesat di kawasan Asia Pasifik.
Sidang AWF-4 akan dipimpin oleh Dr. Youngkyun Kim (Korea), yang pembagian pembahasannya dibagi dalam Spectrum Working Group (SWG) dan 3 Task Group, yaitu: Task Group 1 (TG1): ITU-R WP 8D and 8F activities, Task Group 2 (TG2): Fixed Wireless Access using IMT-2000 technologie, ; dan Task Group 3 (TG3): Convergence of Broadcasting and Telecommunications. Pada Spectrum Working Group (SWG), akan dibahas Sharing/co-existence antara jaringan BWA pada pita frekuensi 3400-3800 MHz dan jaringan FSS pada pita frekuensi 3400-4200 MHz dan kontribusi presentasinya akan disampaikan oleh PT. Telkom. Sedangkan pada Task Group 2 (TG-2), Indonesia melalui Sdri. Koesmarihati akan melanjutkan tugasnya menjadi chairperson pada Task Group 2: Fixed Wireless Access Using IMT-2000 dengan materi pembahasan tentang roadmap standardisasi fixed mobile convergence dan kajian the Regulatory aspect of FMC. Akan dibahas pula dalam TG-2 ini adalah tentang sharing/co-existence di antara teknologi IMT-2000 dan antara teknologi IMT-2000 dengan teknologi wireless access lainnya, yang kontribusi paparannya akan disampaikan oleh PT. Indosat, serta tentang interference broadcasting and telecommunication, yang kontribusi presentasinya akan disampaikan oleh Sdr. Warsono. Akan halnya Task Group 3 (TG-3), Indonesia akan menyiapkan tanggapan atas Questioner Task Group 3 tentang Convergence of Broadcasting and Telecommunication.
Mengingat pentingnya acara AWF berikut dengan pembahasan-pembahasan tehnologi wireless yang terkini yang berkembang dan juga dengan kehadiran Menteri Kominfo Mohammad Nuh bersama Dirjen Postel Basuki Yusuf Iskandar beserta beberapa pejabat APT, maka acara ini sangat terbuka bagi kehadiran para wartawan dari berbagai media cetak, elektronik dan on-line, khususnya pada acara pembukaan berlangsung (jam 09.00 s/d. 09.45 WIB).
